The Opportunity

Our SaaS Data team, a group within SaaS Engineering is responsible for collecting, centralizing, cleansing, curating, processing, modeling the data from diverse data sources to power internal and external applications, build analytics and reporting needs of various business units.

The team has built highly available infrastructure to acquire data from varieties of business system, accumulate and operate on Enterprise data. Our infrastructure consists of on-prem and cloud Databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, AWS RDS and MySQL).

Your role:

The role requires administration of a highly available Database systems (Postgres), interact with business users across the company to support their Enterprise data needs. DB administrator will work with ETL team for data ingestion and data quality. This is a mission critical role to support business applications that depend on Enterprise data.

Responsible for implementing, managing, and tuning high availability 24x7 PostgreSQL data base.

Establish policies and procedures pertaining to data management, security, access control policies, maintenance, and utilization.

Develop, manage, and test database backup & recovery strategies,

verifying data integrity

Perform database installations, configurations, upgrades, and migrations

Proactively monitor and tune for performance

Responsible for capacity planning and recommending paths to account for application growth that are in line with industry best practices

Consult with development and architecture teams to help meet continued application growth

Define and implement database schema and configurations working with our development teams

Create and maintain documentation of procedures, schemas, and guides for troubleshooting database systems.

Research, evaluate and propose solutions to future-proof our Database infrastructure.

Perform review of schema, stored procedures, and other changes to the database DDL

Audit for data integrity and consistency across systems

Work with data-warehousing and Business Intelligence tools

What You’ll Bring

8 years of experience as a DBA on designing, building, configuring, and maintaining PostgreSQL databases on Linux.

In-depth understanding of relational and dimensional database theory and concepts.

Significant practical hands-on experience with database administration, backup and recovery, performance tuning and high-availability solutions.

Detailed understanding of Postgres database server architecture, concepts, features, and high-availability technologies.

Expert knowledge of PL/PostgreSQL, triggers, materialized views and stored procedure development and optimization in PostgreSQL

Experience with database replication, hot stand-by, clustering, and table partitioning

Working knowledge in Linux OS, Bash scripting and Python is expected.

Ability to communicate effectively with others, both in oral and written communication

Desired Skills:

Working knowledge with NoSQL DBs is value added.

Experience in public cloud technologies like AWS.

Experience with PostgreSQL tools for backup with pgBackrest.

Experience with PostgreSQL hot stand-by using Patroni.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $88,800 and $177,600/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.
